Bonu Komali, a 21-year-old part-time YouTuber and BSc student from Visakhapatnam, was found dead at her rented apartment in Hyderabad on Monday. Hours before her death, she sent a text message to her mother, B Satya Varalakshmi, who works in Kuwait, saying, “I love you mummy so much,” and requested her to take care of her younger brother.
Police discovered her body hanging from a ceiling fan after repeated calls went unanswered. A ladder and a saree were found near the scene, and the apartment was entered by police to secure evidence. Komali’s body has been shifted to Osmania General Hospital for autopsy, and authorities have registered a case of suspicious death.
Preliminary investigation suggests emotional distress over a prolonged relationship dispute may have led to the suicide. Komali had been in a three-year relationship with a 27-year-old software engineer and fellow YouTuber, which reportedly ended recently. Police also noted that she had attempted suicide six months ago.
Investigators are examining her phone records, messages, diary entries, and statements from friends and neighbors to establish the circumstances leading to her death. In her diary, Komali wrote about struggling to move on from the relationship, expressing hope that her former partner might return, highlighting her emotional turmoil.
Komali had gained popularity on YouTube for lifestyle, daily vlogs, and personal experience videos. Her recent Tirumala padyatra video, where she documented her pilgrimage to the hill shrine, went viral and became her last public post. Authorities continue to collect digital and physical evidence to understand all angles of the incident.
